Board Nominations

Jeff Lutsey

Following graduation from Northwestern University as a mechanical engineer, Jeff worked for 12 years at the Naval Nuclear Laboratory, where he trained Navy sailors on submarines testing reactor plant safety systems and managed reactor design teams. He moved to Door County in 2015 to be closer to family and work at Waseda Farms. At the farm, he has focused on sustainability and outreach, bringing solar power to the farm and developing relationships between the farm and Door County business, education, and nonprofit partners.

Jeff is the Executive Director of the Climate Change Coalition of Door County, focusing on climate action, including county-wide tree planting, community compost, and solar education. He serves on the Ephraim Green Tier ad hoc committee and on the Baileys Harbor Community Association and Destination Door County as a board member. As a member of The Ridges Sanctuary board, Jeff would aim to contribute his analytical mindset and his networking and communication skills to further the organization’s environmental stewardship leadership and mission.

Mark Martin

Mark Martin earned a Bachelor’s degree in wildlife management from the UW-Stevens Point and is a certified wildlife biologist. He worked for 40 years at the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) as a wildlife research technician and conservation biologist with the Bureau of Endangered Resources including 30 years with the State Natural Areas program. Mark assisted Door County Land Trust, The Nature Conservancy, and The Ridges Sanctuary, by helping secure millions of dollars for land acquisition and management of Door County state natural areas. Mark was the DNR lead on the project establishment, acquisition and restoration at Baileys Harbor Boreal Forest and Wetlands State Natural Area. He also completed the Ramsar Wetland of National Importance nomination for Door County Peninsula Coastal Wetlands . In 1976 Mark and his parents became friends of Wisconsin Conservation Hall of Fame (WCHF) Inductees Roy and Charlotte Lukes and enjoyed going on Roy's tours. Mark has been involved with The Ridges Sanctuary since 1982. Mark and Sue have also led many tours for the Festival of Nature. Mark served on the board from 2012 to 2018. He was appointed to the board in July 2021 to complete the term of a resigning director that ends in August 2023. Mark has also served on the Door County Land Trust board since 2012. Mark and Sue have been the managers at Madison Audubon's Goose Pond Sanctuary in Columbia County since 1979. They were Inducted into the WCHF in April 2023.

Ed Miller

Ed’s father was a Door County native who was born and raised on a farm about 1 mile north of their property. Ed spent childhood summer vacations in Door County, staying at his grandparents log farm house. Ed and his wife Sandy continued the tradition. In 1991 they bought some of Ed’s Aunt and Uncles farm property and moved to Baileys Harbor permanently in 2007 from the Waukesha area. Ed and Sandy placed a Door County Land Trust Conservation Easement on their property. Ed has bachelor and master of science degrees in engineering from The University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. Ed enjoyed a 33 year career with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. When Ed retired in 2007 he was the supervisor of the DNR Southeast District Air Monitoring Section. Ed is involved in many Ridges volunteer activities particularly with the Wednesday Crew. Ed and Sandy oversee the restoration of the Baileys Harbor Range Lights. Ed also re-enacts the role of a of a lighthouse keeper at the Range Lights. Ed previously served two three year terms on The Ridges board from 2011 to 2017, the last five as board secretary. Ed is looking forward to the privilege of serving once again as a Ridges board member and helping to guide the Ridges in a strategic direction while being faithful to its roots. Ed and Sandy have been life members of The Ridges since the early 1980’s.

Ashley Prange

Born and raised in Green Bay, Prange spent summers in Egg Harbor, has worked in Washington, D.C. as a Capitol Hill staffer and as an analyst in the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. She is the founder and CEO of Au Naturale Cosmetics, which emphasizes responsible and sustainable supply chains, philanthropic profit sharing, the empowerment of organic farmers, advocacy for state and federal policies that champion the environment and consumer safety in personal care, and investment in zero-footprint packaging. Her company has earned features and awards from Allure, InStyle, Good Housekeeping, Domino, Vogue and Real Simple magazines. She is also on the boards of the Natural and Organic Beauty Alliance and St. Norbert College. Prange’s passion for the environment is apparent in every decision she makes, from her business to the natural preservation of her piece of Door County landscape.
