2021 Board of Directors

Linda Brooks has a Bachelor of Science degree in zoology and an MS in biology education from the University of Illinois.  Her work experience includes 16 years at the American Hospital Association and 10 years as an adjunct professor at a community college teaching introductory biological science courses.

Linda is chair of the Finance Committee and is in the second year of her second 3-year term on the board.


Cynthia Crock is a graduate of Iowa State University and holds a MBA from the University of Iowa.  Her work experience includes supervision, marketing and development, and sales at Northwestern Bell, the Weyerhaeuser Company and the YMCA in Sturgeon Bay.  She continues to be active in her church and the Northern Door Rotary Club.

Cynthia is the chair of the Development Committee and is serving the last year of her second 3-year term on the board.

 


Chuck Dull graduated from Concordia University with graduate studies in organizational behavior and business management at the University of Nebraska.  He held executive positions in non-profit foundations, led product development and strategic planning at Fortune 500 companies and served as CEO of the Hong Kong International School.

Chuck is a member of the Development Committee and is serving the second year of his first 3-year term.

 


Michelle Hefty attended UW-Stevens Point and UW-Madison where she received a BS degree in Resource Management, specializing in Outdoor Area Management.  She served as a Park Manger for the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources for over 30 years, including at Newport State Park and Rock Island State Park.  She was instrumental in getting Newport State Park designated as the first internationally recognized dark sky park in Wisconsin and only the second in the Midwest.

Michelle is serving the first year of her first 3-year term.

 


Mark Jinkins received a BBA in accounting and management, and a law degree from UW-Madison. He was also licensed as a CPA and real estate title insurance agent. After retiring from the Pinkert Law Firm, Mark has stayed involved in his community by serving on a number of nonprofit boards, including the Door County Community Foundation, Birch Creek, Lakeshore CAP, Help of Door County and the Rotary Club of Sturgeon Bay.

Mark is the chair of the Governance Committee and is serving the first year of his first 3-year term.


Jeff Lutsey has a degree in mechanical engineering from Northwestern University. He worked on reactor design at the Naval Nuclear Laboratory for 12 years before moving to Door County to work with his family at Waseda Farms. Other pursuits of his include solar power and sustainable living. He also serves on the boards for the Baileys Harbor Community Association, Boys & Girls Club, and Destination Door County.

Jeff is the board vice-president and is serving the second year of his first 3-year term.

 


Mark Martin earned a Bachelor’s degree in wildlife management from the University of Wisconsin Madison. He worked for 40 years at the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources as a wildlife research technician and conservation biologist with the Bureau of Endangered Resources. Gathering Waters recently awarded Mark and his wife, Susan, the Harold “Bud” Jordahl Lifetime Achievement Award honoring their achievements in extraordinary land conservation projects and accomplishments.

Mark served on the board from 2012 to 2018.  He was appointed to the board in July 2021 to complete the term of a resigning director that ends in August 2023.


Sandy Miller has a BS degree in chemistry and biology from Carroll University.  She worked for the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources for 35 years in the air and waste division, doing regulatory compliance, laboratory and quality control work, and policy and rule development.  She is currently working on the Baileys Harbor upper range light restoration project.

Sandy is the board secretary and a member of the Governance Committee.  She is serving the second year of her second 3-year term.

 


Grace Rossman is a native of Door Co., and studied journalism at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.  She opened several restaurants, a bakery and a catering business in Iowa before coming back home.  She was a Certified Financial Planner for 29 years, representing Thrivent Financial in Sturgeon Bay and currently serves on a number of local organization boards.

Grace is the board treasurer.  Appointed to the board in 2020, she is now serving the first year of her first 3-year term.


Bill Wolff received degrees from Northwestern University and Miami University of Ohio.  He was a physical education teacher and swimming coach in the northern suburbs of Chicago for 40 years. Bill is a front desk volunteer, hike leader and member of the Wednesday crew.

Bill served on the board from 2013 to 2019.  He is a member of the Governance Committee and was appointed to the board in January 2021 to complete the term of a resigning director that ends in August 2022.

 


Dave Zuhlke studied geology and cartography at the University of Wisconsin -Whitewater. He was a cartographer, analyst, and project leader at the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency in St. Louis, Missouri. Dave is a member of the Wednesday crew.

Dave is the board president.  He is serving the third year of his first 3-year term.
